Upon researching this lovely serving bowl, I found out that this design belongs to a design range called Festival.

If you are not familiar with Scottish pottery like me, you will be impressed to know that Buchan Portobello pottery and stoneware has been around since the 1800s and have evolved through time to become a very reputable and sought-after pottery company.

They lasted all the way up to the year 2000, however they were at their peak up until the 1970s, when glass replaced ceramics in production of kitchenware's.

If you want to read up on Scottish pottery and investigate Buchan Portobello company there are plenty of sites you can look at that will open you up to another world of unique and beautiful pottery, such as the Scottish Pottery Society.

The piece I am offering you is in excellent condition and has no sign of wear or tear, so if you are looking for a one-off piece, or thinking of collecting this range of Buchan stoneware, then you couldn't go far wrong with this one. Displaying grapes and a wine glass and a lemon, with some fun patterns.

The colours are blue, green, and orange but are subtle in tone due to the cream grey background. I have struggled to find other pieces to match on sale. There are more popular designs like the Rivera or Thistle designs, and they date between the 1940s-60s and so this design is somewhere in the middle of the 1950s.

Beautiful and functional it has plenty of life in it yet.
