This is a beautiful and unique example of 1940s decanter glassware. I personally have never seen this before now.
I love seeing crystal cut glass decanters from eras past, the sad thing is a lot of the old examples have lost the lids or are chipped and have seen better days. When I saw this leather decanter in its full glory, I was excited and intrigued to know where it came from and if they were old or new in design.
As it turns out it is from Italy and this design and finish dates to the 1940s, so for me the romance of the bottle kicked in and you only need to smell inside of the bottle to know it has held a lot of alcohol throughout the decades and the lid shows signs of pushing and pulling but still with care and respect to the material.
I know that it was once very shiny and tight but as leather ages the more its beauty comes through. So, I know that whoever falls in love with this bottle will carry on giving it the alcohol it was made for and the respect it deserves for many a decades to come.
